NOTE: This is a SATURDAY event.

If you are new to orienteering or would otherwise like to do the courses during the daylight, you can come at 3pm for a daylight run of the white or yellow courses.

NIGHT ORIENTEERING AT LEMON LAKE COUNTY PARK. Start between 5pm and 6pm. A headlamp or flashlight is required! Courses close at 8pm. There are white and yellow courses for beginners, an orange level course for intermediate, and and an advanced course for the experienced orienteerers. If you want to try the white or beginner courses during daylight hours, you can start at 3pm. If so, please register for the Daylight option courses, and you will still be welcome to come back for a Night-O event once the sun sets.

COVID NOTICE: A mask or face covering is required at the start/finish area or inside any buildings. Please maintain social distancing while outside.

Meet Director's Notes:

Night-O: The Night-O is located in a county park known for its disc golf courses. (The professional disc golf World Championships have been held at Lemon Lake twice). There are over 54 disc golf holes. Map scale is 1:7500. There is ample opportunity for parallel errors on this course. As a general rule, areas mapped dark green are impregnable. I suggest not attempting to cross dark green areas even for a very short distance. Disc golf tees are either concrete or rubber matted squares and are mapped as small ruins filled in with light brown. Use caution on the tees as they can be slippery when wet. Disc golf cages are mapped with the special object circle. Other special objects are mapped with an X. There will be reflectors on the controls so they will be visible with a flashlight or headlamp shining on them.

Directions:

Night-O: 6322 W. 133rd Ave., Crown Point, IN: From the Chicago area, take I-90, I-94, or I-294 towards Indiana. Then take I-65 south. Take the exit for 109th St in Crown Point. Turn left at Indiana Ave and go south to 133rd. Turn right and go about 4 miles to the park. You can also come to Indiana via I-394 and Exchange Road and approach the park from the west.
