Bramble RambleExtreme
April 27-28, 2002
Two-day Individual A Orienteering Meet,
2002 U.S. Intercollegiate Championships, and
World Ranking Event (WRE)
Event:
The 2002 US Intercollegiate Championships will be held concurrently with a two-day
USOF-sanctioned A-meet with cumulative times, age groups, and awards. On Saturday,
a World Ranking Event (WRE) will be offered on the Red course for women and
the Blue course for men. WRE competitors may also enter 2-day events. A model
event will be offered on Friday on the adjacent Cap Sauers Holdings map.
Map:
All competition will be held on a new edition of the Palos North map. Located
in the large forest preserves of Cook County, the area is approximately 15 miles
southwest of Chicago. It lies along the historic I&M Canal, which, in 1848,
connected the Mississippi River with Lake Michigan.
The map covers large triangular plateau of open hardwood forests and abandoned farm fields, surrounded by bluffs intercut by parallel ravines which branch upward in various configurations. It was extensively field checked, revised and digitized in 2001. Blue and Red courses will be over-printed on offset maps scales to 1:15 000. Other courses will use color-photocopied maps with a scale of 1:10 000.
Courses:
The meet will have the standard classes on the usual seven courses. Classes
may be consolidated if they do not contain at least three registered competitors
by April 15.
Registration:
Registrations received before April 1 receive a special early-registration discount.
Entries postmarked after April 15 will be considered day-of-event entries (acceptable
for the A-meet, but not for the WRE). Please send the registration
form and a check payable to "CAOC" to:
Michael Collins, Registrar
1082 Mill Creek Dr.
Buffalo Grove, IL 60089-4210

See the USOF Rules of Competition (section 5.7) for more information on Intercollegiate eligibility.
