Details:
We will be offering the standard courses: white and yellow for
beginners, orange for intermediate, and red and green for advanced
orienteerers. There will also be a sprint course available for those
who want a little more after completing their first run!
ePunch will be available on orange, red, and green courses. (Traditional
paper punch can also be used if desired.) As is usual at CAOC local
meets, blue and brown courses will not be offered.
Directions:
Take Route 53 north of I-90 for 6 miles. Exit on Dundee Road, turn
left, and go west 3 miles to Quentin Road. Turn right and go north
0.5 mile. Turn left into the forest preserve. Turn right at the first intersection toward Grove 5. Take this road to the end and watch for the orange and white orienteering signs to direct you to the shelter at the top of the toboggan slides.
Public Transportation:
Bring your bike on Metra! A Metra train arrives at the Palatine
station at 11:24 a.m. from the Ogilvie Transportation Center
in Chicago. From there you ride or walk north on Smith Street, past
a 19th century cemetery, to the bike path which will lead you directly
into the forest preserve and registration just prior to the noontime
cut-off (2 miles from station). Also, since the meet is on Saturday,
there is also a Metra train from Northwestern Station in Chicago
that leaves at 8:30 a.m. and gets to Palatine at 9:25.
