Details:
Because this is one of our most popular meet locations, please get here early, and be prepared to park in one of the overflow lots and walk 10-15 minutes on the connecting bike path to Registration.

The Score-O for the Green and Red courses will have a mass start at 11 a.m. Please arrive by 10:30 to complete registration before the 10:45 instructions. If you wish to have a pre-marked map, please pre-register for the event.

There will be 22 controls on the Green and Red courses. Competitors on the Green course will have 75 minutes to return to start/finish with as many of control punches as possible. Competitors on the Red course will have 90 minutes. Each control will be worth from 10-30 points, depending on the difficulty and distance of the control.

Competitors will be penalized 10 points for every 30 seconds (or a portion of 30 seconds) that they are late. So, a competitor finishing the green course with a time of 75:01 will have 10 points deducted, and another competitor finishing the same course at 75:31 will have 20 points deducted, etc.

Ties between competitors with equal number of points will be broken by the finishing time.

There will not be a grab-O component.

Directions:
Take I-90 (Kennedy Expwy and Northwest Tollway) northwest of the Loop 21 miles. Exit at Arlington Heights Rd. and turn left (south). Go 1 mile to Higgins Rd. Turn right and go about a mile to the second entrance to the forest preserve on your right. Watch for the red and white orienteering signs to direct you to the registration area.

Public Transportation:
The Pace #208 bus runs every half-hour starting at 7:45 a.m. from the Davis stop on the Purple Line in Evanston. The bus travels along Golf Road which borders Busse Woods on the north. A much shorter bus ride is available on the #606 Pace bus that leaves the Rosemont stop on the Blue Line at 8:15 and 9:45 Sunday mornings and also travels west on Golf Road. Get off either bus at the intersection of Golf and I-90, cross the drainage ditch near Salt Creek, and walk south into the fields and woods of the forest preserve, making sure you've brought an old copy of the orienteering map for guidance. On the way back to the City, you can stop for a hamburger and beer at Portillo's or Chili's on Golf Road near the bus stop (under 1 mile of walking from the bus to the meet location).
