Bike-O!
This event is designed to be completed on bicycle! Follow the map
and ride the trails at Raceway Woods in Dundee Township.
There will be a short, medium, and long course. The short course
(5 km) will be easy, and possible even without a rugged mountain
bike. The medium (6 km) and long (9 km) courses will be more technical.
Riding off-trail is prohibited, but carrying bikes between trails
is allowed. All controls will be placed so that dismounting of bikes
will not be required, although participants may choose to do so
for their own comfort.
Participants are recommended to bring their own water bottles,
as no water will be available on the course.
As there will likely be other riders and pedestrians on the trails,
any reports of inconsiderate or dangerous behavior will result in
disqualification.
Helmets are required for all participants.
We will be using electronic punching, and participants will be
expected to stay clear of the trail when they are at a control location.
The weather forecast is looking excellent for the event, but if
it rains, the event will be rescheduled. Check the web site for
last-minute changes.
Online Pre-registration will stay
open until Saturday at 10 a.m.
On-site registration goes from 9:30 until noon on Sunday morning.
Courses close at 1 p.m. (an hour earlier than at a typical event),
when controls will be picked up.
Parking and Staging area: Raceway Woods has two
small parking areas (one on Huntley Road and one on Route 31), neither
of which is large enough to hold everyone. The event start will
be at the Raceway Woods East parking lot which is on Route 31, north
of Huntley Road. For additional parking, using the lot at Carpentersville
Dam and ride over to the start location.
Directions:
If you are coming on I-90 (Kennedy Expressway and Northwest Tollway)
it is 40 miles from the Chicago Loop to Route 31 (Elgin/West Dundee)
exit. Take Route 31 north 3 miles: Crossing points include Route
72 (Higgins Road) and Huntley Road (Main Street Carpentersville).
After crossing Huntley Road, continue north to the parking lot (or
park at the Carpenters Dam).
From the NW Suburbs you can also take Route 72(Higgins Rd.) to Route
31 then head north (turn right) using above directions.
