Big Blue O Fest 2008
September 12, 13, and 14

This meet is an attempt to have others from the Midwest or otherwise come to Chicago (home of the blues) for a weekend of excellent orienteering meets. Everyone is invited for a day or all 3 events.

This year’s event is considered a “B” meet, which means that all the events will be considered for a prize at the end of the meets. Electronic punching will also be used on the advanced courses.

Anyone participating in all three days (either team or individual) will receive a Blue Music CD arranged by meet director Charlie S.

The weekend starts off with two sprint courses at Busse Woods South in Elk Grove Village (4-6pm Friday). Saturday's meet will be a middle distance event plus sprint for advanced orienteerers, plus regular orange, yellow and white courses. Sunday's meet will be back at Country Lane Woods, using our A-meet map from last fall. Advanced courses will be Long events (50% longer than normal) while white, yellow, and orange courses will be offered for beginners-intermediates.

Details:
Friday - 4-6pm - Sprints at Busse Woods.
Saturday - 10am-noon - Middle Distance and Sprint at Deer Grove
Sunday - 10am-noon - Long Event at Country Lane Woods

About Orienteering

Everyone is welcome. No experience, no special clothes, and no competitive instinct are required. You do not have to run when orienteering—many experienced orienteers walk the course. But competitive running is also welcome. First-time orienteers are especially welcome—we will help you get started.

If you have questions about orienteering or need help finding the event location, e-mail the club secretary at secretary@chicago-orienteering.org.
